Client Spotlight: The Big Stomp

At Cambium Marketing, we are fortunate enough to work with some truly amazing companies, organizations, and events. We would like to shed some light on one of those clients, The Big Stomp music festival, which is especially relevant as we look to wrap up the month of May.

The Big Stomp began as an annual outreach event for the Pete Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to destigmatizing mental health and expanding access to mental health crisis intervention. About far more than just music, The Big Stomp is an immersive community experience geared toward fostering a more open and thoughtful conversation around mental health. Merging entertainment and education, fans will not only enjoy two days of live music, local food and beverage, but also have the opportunity to learn about healthy habits, practices, and mindfulness through numerous onsite activations.

We were excited to announce the date and lineup for this year’s event (more information on that below), which aligned perfectly with Mental Health Awareness Month. In an effort to not only promote the festival and ticket sales, we also wanted to stress the importance of highlighting the mental health aspect of the event.

One way we accomplished this was by working with Waterfront Park (another wonderful client!) on having the Big Four Bridge illuminated green and yellow the week of May 17 in honor of The Pete Foundation and Mental Health Awareness Month.

Green is known as the official mental health color. Yellow represents hope, happiness, and renewal. Together, the colors represent both a personal journey from a dark place to a place of hope and happiness, as well as our collective efforts to bring the topic of mental health out of the darkness and into the light.

Working with the fantastic staff at Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville, we also were able to bring attention to the cause through multiple on-site activations during both a men’s and women’s game. On their inaugural Mental Health Awareness night, members of The Pete Foundation got to go on the field at halftime and proudly wave the Mental Health Awareness flag.

The Mental Health Flag conveys support for all efforts in mental health. It symbolizes both the personal struggle to find hope and happiness, and our collective attempt to bring the issue of mental health out of the darkness and into the light.

Between offering a special discounted ticket price during the month of May, and also having a presence at local events such as the Fleur de Flea Vintage Market and the Mayor’s Hike, Bike, and Paddle event, The Big Stomp and its mission was widely promoted throughout the month. These efforts, along with our heavy social media presence and paid media campaigns continue to strengthen our message leading up to the event on August 18 - 19, 2023.

Learn more about The Big Stomp below and check them out online at thebigstomp.com where you can purchase tickets and find additional information on The Pete Foundation.

The Big Stomp, the nation’s first music festival to focus on mental health, returns August 18 - 19, 2023. The annual family-friendly event will feature over 30 acts including funk outfit Lettuce, indie folk virtuoso Bahamas and American rock band The Heartless Bastards. The festival will again take place at Jones Field - a scenic, 90-acre nature preserve located in southeastern Jefferson County, adjacent to the Parkland’s Turkey Run park.

Step off the beaten path this year to find the new home of all genres of electronic music, affectionately known as the Transmit Treehouse. Lead by 3x DMC World Champion DJ Craze, Jason Leech, Josh Wink, Mr. C and more, genres showcased in the Treehouse include house, techno, dubstep, drum & bass, electro, acid, and trance to create an immersive dance experience nestled in the beauty of the woods.
